Two
As we celebrate Abigail turning two, I want to stop and think of all the amazing things she has learned. I want to record some of her milestones, and some of my favorite memories of the past two years with my sweet baby girl!
Abigail is going to make an amazing wife and mother one day. I have the precious opportunity to teach her how to keep a home. I get to model for her godliness, discipline, patience, grace, mercy, diligence, and love. While this can be an overwhelming task some days, I pray that I will always seek her forgiveness when I fail. I know that it's impossible to be a perfect mother, but I hope to point her to a perfect savior.
I say that she will be a great mother not because of what I have taught her, but because of what innately brings her joy. I have never assigned Abigail a chore greater than "can you put your toys away" but she loves to help. She puts all the pillows on my bed while I make it, she unloads all her dishes from the dishwasher and puts them in their drawer. She attempts to empty her potty (which can be comical and disgusting at the same time). She loves to help me cook, and never passes on an opportunity- as soon as she thinks I may cook something she rushes to push her chair over to the counter top so she can help. She also loves to nurture he baby sister, we will talk about that more later!
A few of Abigail's mile stones include:
-being pretty much potty trained (we are still working on #2 for those of you who wondered what "pretty much" means!)
-counting to ten
-she knows her abc's and wxyz's ( those are the only letters she says!)
-she can put her shoes on, and most of the time she gets them on the right feet!
-her vocabulary is enormous!
- she can turn on the tv and DVD player, put in a movie, and press play with the remote. Although, I'm not bragging about that to anyone :)
-she can feed Ginger, and is glad to do it!
She is a pretty impressive little girl.
Abigail is madly in love with Maddie. She loves to be the boss and enforce the rules. Her most frequent comment to her sister is "No, maaaddie!!!" she checks her diaper ever so often proclaiming "shoowee" if its dirty! She enjoys holding her bottle for her, and patting her back when she cries!
Abigail's best friend is Oliviah and she can't get enough of her. She frequently asks to see her picture on facebook, and only gets excited to go to church if "liliah" is going to be there!
She loves our new iPhones, she can unlock the screen, and enjoys the talking Tom! It's pretty hilarious.
We are still working on Abigail's memory book, so far she has completed the first catechism. Who made you? -God made me.
I won't lie, she has her fair share of tantrums, but we can usually diffuse the situation pretty quickly! I have found that consistency is key, and if I slack she pushes the limits to see what she can get away with!
If I had to use a few words to describe my little girl it would be, bubbly, silly, social, pretty, sweet, independent, curious, and nurturing.
She is definitely living up to her name, a true daddy's girl. She is passionate about football, and loves to watch/play with daddy! They frequently and randomly pronounce "DOWN, SET.....HUT!!!"And go charging through the living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, anywhere really and tackle each other.
I could go on and on another my first born, sweet heart.

We celebrated Aby's 2nd birthday today with some of her best friends at chick-fil-a! It's hard being so far from family when special occasions roll around, but it helps to have so many great people to love on our little girl! Here are a few photos from the party!

Slow Down!
The days are going too fast!
I can't seem to keep up with the laundry, the dishes, the cooking, the bathing, the clothing, the feeding, the cleaning, the grocery shopping, the fingernail clipping, the diaper changing, the occasional shower for myself, not to mention the BSF, the MOPS, the bouncing babies at the library, feed the hungry at church, wednesday night church, sunday all day church, along with taking all the neighbors with me to church, the rare date night, and i won't even mention time to myself, did i mention im working 1-2 days a week? I can't keep up.
Hopefully all of the previous things will help you understand why I haven't posted a single thing on my blog in who knows how long.
BUT thats all about to change. I mean Im going to post a few things right now, and then honestly there are no guarantees when my blog will see my face again!
So here's a little update...
Madeline ...
- is 5 months old ( can you believe it?)
-can roll, crawl, scoot anywhere she wants to go.
-babbles all day long.
-sleeps all night long (praise the Lord?)
- has the most contagious smile I have ever seen.
- finally started giggling out loud.
- can sit for a moment or two but topples over pretty easily.
-Has no teeth, and I don't see/feel any.
-LOVES her sister, and her dog.
-is still nursing but we recently added a little rice cereal to tide her over.
-is the longest thing you have probably ever seen.
- is a sweetie.

Busy bees
We were busy bees today. We made a yummy scrambled egg and toast breakfast and rushed off to the farmers market this morning.
We picked up some peaches, green beans, and a little local honey. Then took a nice walk through triangle park. The weather was amazing today! The low this evening is supposed to be 49!!!
We headed over to once upon a child where my mom helped me stock a Abigail's closet for the fall!
Then we all headed home for a nap, a little laundry and a whole lotta oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
After a little rest we went over to the church to do some work in the nursery and picked up a quick bite at chick fil a.
And now for a cup of decaf and some rest. Finally.

The ER
This evening while grocery shopping Abigail didn't want to sit in the cart and because I'm such a super cool mom I let her run wild around the store, that is until it was time to check out.
I was holding Abigail's hand as she threw herself to the ground in protest of checking out and as I pulled her up I heard her arm pop!
She cried all through the checkout and for about 30 minutes after we got home. I spoke with the hospital and we decided to take her in.
She cried as we waited and guarded her arm not moving or using it, untill...
As soon as we got in the room she was absolutely fine!
Apparently she has something called nurse-maids elbow. It was basically dislocated.
The doctor told us how to reset it when/ if it happens again. And sent us on our way.
We were not very happy about the bill though! Haha!

No no hit.
We had our first incident of sibling brutality today at least on Madeline's end ( we won't mention how Abigail tried to whack Maddie with a wooden spoon today or bounce her out of the bouncer). It was the funniest thing but Abigail was not laughing. I'm not sure what Maddie was reaching for but she kept hitting Abigail repeatedly. Aby seriously seemed offended that I would let the baby get away with hitting her. She probably expected me to spank her. It was too cute.

Circus fun
We took Abigail to the circus this past week. I'm not at all ashamed to say that was just as excited as she was ( actually more because she didn't understand what "the circus" was)!
She stood up and danced practically the entire time.
She was amazed by the elephants.
And she loved the cotton candy!
We won't talk about this...
The sweetest part is that she fell asleep on the way home and when I tried to unbuckle her car seat she woke up clapping as if she had missed something. It was precious. I'm so glad we were able to take her on a special mommy/daddy date!

Lactation WHAT???
Lactation cookies!
I heard about these little sweeties from a friends husband, that's right her husband!
They may not be what you are thinking. They are definitely not made with breast milk. They are however made with...
Brewers yeast
Flax meal
And thick cut oats ( I used regular oats)
They taste better than I expected and everyday since I made them I have eaten more than the recommended four a day.
They are supposed to be helpful in increasing your milk supply and with the portions I have been consuming, I think they work! I have been freezing extra milk everyday this week!
Abigail likes them too!

Yumm!
I made these savory spiral stuffed rolls for dinner this week and they were super delicious!
Mine weren't quite as pretty as hers but I bet they tasted just as good! The best part was having plenty left over for lunch the next day!
I was pretty impressed with myself after making the bread from scratch. It's makes me feel like a good wife and mommy!
