A trip to the orchard!

Lately I have been getting a little bored throughout the week. We don't really have money to spend on outings 5 days a week and there isn't too much to do in this little town. So, I have to be creative. We go the the YMCA daily, the pool and park when the weather cooperates, monkey joes every now and then and we have tried the children's museum here in town (we weren't too impressed). The aquarium and zoo are over an hour away so it really must be a special occasion to make the trip (and Daddy has to be available to join us). But today we took a trip to the orchard! It's inexpensive (if you want it to be) but honestly I don't mind spending a little bit of money to support amazing family friendly farms like this...

We grabbed our wagon...

Rounded up Madeline...

And headed out to the play area...

When we couldn't play anymore we went to visit the animals...

Aby made a friend!

Chickens!

While I was watching Madeline aby actually opened the door to the chicken coop! Luckily I was able to close it quickly...although I don't think these guys cared to go anywhere!

We ordered some lunch and played a serious game of tic-tac-toe...

Then grabbed a bucket and rolled out to pick some blackberries...

Maddie was more interested in the red berries...she did finally get the idea after we picked a few black-blackberries...

We went back for round two of playing and visiting the animals

Took a seat in the big chair...

(I guess they've been too busy to change the date;)

We had a wonderful, relaxing (for me) day at the orchard. We saw only a few other families, we weren't rushed, we didn't have any tantrums, the girls burned all of their energy and now we are all going to take a long nap!
